AWAM 2019 SCHOLARSHIPs

AWAM’s Scholarship Program supports the diverse skills required in the field of Aviation Maintenance & Technology.  AWAM is offering seventeen different scholarships for the 2019 year. Applicants may apply for up to two Category I scholarships and up to three Category II scholarships.

Applications are now being accepted. Applications will be due November 1, 2018.

Scholarship: Northrop Rice Foundation

Awards & Scholarships

Northrop Rice Foundation has two goals:

  • Enhance the role and status of Aviation Maintenance and Avionics Technicians; and
  • Ensure that an adequate supply of qualified Aviation Maintenance and Avionics Technicians will be available to meet future industry needs.

One of the activities undertaken to help meet the second goal is to promote donations to the Foundation by aviation organizations to support the Foundation’s efforts to:

  • Assist young people and veterans who are about to enter the civilian aviation industry;
  • Encourage AMT instructors to obtain upgrade training;
  • Assist FAA-certificated Part 147 Schools implement high-quality instruction programs; and
  • Assist FAA-certificated Part 147 Schools obtain training equipment. 

The donations currently available to the Foundation provide for the annual distribution of over thirty-five (35) recognitions consisting of:

  • Financial awards and scholarships; and
  • Equipment and book awards.

If you are an AMT or Avionics student, AMT instructor, or FAA-certificated Part 147 School, you may qualify for one of these annual recognitions.  Check out the available awards and scholarships—and their requirements and application process—above.

Scholarship: Northrop Rice Foundation

Northrop Rice Foundation Scholarships and Awards
 
The Northrop Rice Foundation (NRF) provides financial, equipment, technical book, and tool support to aviation maintenance technician (AMT) students, instructors, and schools. Awards available in 2017 include:
  • For AMT students: 15 financial scholarships (value $500 - $1500), 5 tool sets (value $4000), and 10 technical book sets (value $250);
  • For AMT instructors: 29 scholarships (value $800 - $5000) for industry training courses;
  • For AMT schools: 2 equipment awards (value $550 and $12,280) and a $1,500 financial grant to assist the school in any manner it desires;
  • For veterans: $1500 scholarship for a veteran in a school’s program, and financial support awards to veterans seeking an A&P license using their military experience; and
  • For avionics students: 10 technical book sets (value $240 - $270).
Instructors and administrators are encouraged to share the awards flyer with students. 
 
Opportunities are made possible through industry donations, winners will be announced at the ATEC annual conference awards luncheon in Seattle on April 1.
